Catalytic Converters: For Diesel Engines
Diesel Exhaust Purifiers, and Catalytic Converters
from Engine Control Systems, consist of either a ceramic or metallic
honeycombed substrate coated with an advanced precious metal washcoat
enclosed in a stainless steel housing, through which the hot exhaust
gas is passed. The effect of the catalytic coating causes an oxidation
of the most hazardous gases, Carbon Monoxide (CO) and Hydrocarbons
(HC) to form less harmful Carbon Dioxide and water.
The ceramic series can also cause the breakdown of
some of the larger soot particles thus reducing the particulate
emissions.
Fitting a catalytic converter will greatly reduce
the toxic effects of the exhaust gasses, and also the associated
health problems caused and is an essential part of any exhaust treatment
process. It is a cost effective way of improving the working environment
where a diesel engine is being used.
Catalysts should be fitted as close to the engine as possible, as
they operate most effectively at higher temperatures. Western Tydens
can supply either a pre-made unit to fit into the exhaust line or
can custom make silencers or expansion boxes with the catalyst enclosed.
They are virtually maintenance free and long lasting.
